it is well established that ʿUthmān, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf, and other wealthy Companions did not spend all their wealth, but rather died leaving substantial wealth for their heirs, as mentioned in the books of biography and history. In summary, the ḥadīth with this witness is ḥasan or ṣaḥīḥ. And Allāh knows best. Mālik narrated (1/256/1) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār that he said: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar being asked about what constitutes a hoard. He said: "It is the wealth from which zakāh is not paid." Its isnād is extremely authentic.

"The worst trait in a man is avarice that is overwhelming and cowardice that is disgraceful." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (3511), Ibn Ḥibbān (808), and Aḥmad (2/302/320), and from him by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (9/50) through the route of Mūsá ibn ʿAlī, who heard his father narrate from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Marwān ibn al-Ḥakam, who said: I heard Abū Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic; its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Marwān ibn al-Ḥakam, who is the father of ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz - and he is trustworthy.

"On that day, people will be on the bridge over Hellfire." It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/116-117) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAnbasah ibn Saʿīd from Ḥabīb ibn Abī ʿAmrah from Mujāhid, who said: Ibn ʿAbbās said: "Do you know the breadth of Hellfire?" I said: No. He said: Indeed, by Allāh, you do not know. Between the earlobe of one of them and his shoulder is a distance of seventy autumns, in which valleys of pus and blood flow. I said: Rivers?
