and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Accepted"! The ḥadīth was recorded by Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (19/40/1) through the chain of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Tamīm, who reported from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUbayd Allāh. However, he added to it, saying: "The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) went out to visit a man from his Companions, and ʿAlī and I were with him. He took hold of his hand and placed it on his forehead, as he considered this to be part of the complete visitation of the sick. Then he said..." He mentioned it without the phrase "rejoice" at the beginning and "in the Hereafter" at the end. I said: This addition is objectionable because Ibn Tamīm is the only one who reported it, and he is weak, contradicting Ibn Jābir, who is trustworthy.

"The treasure of one of you on the Day of Resurrection will become a bald snake, and its owner will flee from it, but it will pursue him and say: 'I am your treasure.' He said: By Allāh, it will continue to pursue him until he stretches out his hand, and it swallows it." It was recorded by Aḥmad in "al-Musnad" (2/312, 316): ʿAbd al-Razzāq ibn Hammām narrated to us, from Maʿmar, from Hammām ibn Munabbih, who said: Abū Hurayrah narrated to us from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he mentioned several ḥadīths, this being one of them. I said: This chain is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. It has a second chain. Aḥmad said (2/379): Qutaybah narrated to us, from Layth ibn Saʿd, from Ibn ʿAjlān, from al-Qaʿqāʿ, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, with a similar narration, and he said: "a bald snake with two black spots." Its chain is good. It has a third chain recorded (2/489) from al-Ḥasan, from Abū Hurayrah, with a similar narration, and he said:
