and the ḥadīth was quoted by al-Suyūṭī in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" (2/527/2 - Maṣūrah al-Maktab) from the ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr, who said: "Its isnād is good."

"Whoever remains silent is saved." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2/82), al-Dārimī (2/299), and Aḥmad (2/159, 177), and al-Qaḍāʿī in "Musnad al-Shihāb" (Q 26/2) through various chains from Ibn Lahīʿah, from Yazīd ibn ʿAmr al-Maʿāfirī, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ḥublī, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said. Al-Tirmidhī said: "It is a gharīb ḥadīth; we do not know it except from the ḥadīth of Ibn Lahīʿah." I said: This means it is a weak ḥadīth due to the poor memory of Ibn Lahīʿah, which he was known for. However, some of the ʿAbādilah narrated from him, and their ḥadīth from him is considered authentic by the scholars, among them ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak, who said in "Kitāb al-Zuhd" (Q 172/1 Kawākib 575 and No. 5, 38 - Printed in India): ʿAbd Allāh ibn Lahīʿah informed us of it. Among them is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb, who narrated it in "al-Jāmiʿ" (49) from him. Ibn Shāhīn also recorded it in "al-Targhīb" (Q 107/1) through the route of Ibn Wahb from him, but he paired it with ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, who is trustworthy. Perhaps al-Ṭabarānī recorded it from this route, as al-Mundhirī said (4/9): "Al-Tirmidhī narrated it and said: It is a gharīb ḥadīth, and al-Ṭabarānī [narrated it] and its narrators are trustworthy." Al-Manāwī quoted from al-Zayn al-ʿIrāqī, who said: "The isnād of al-Tirmidhī is weak, but it is with al-Ṭabarānī with a good isnād."
