that Samʿān from Ibrāhīm ibn ʿUbayd ibn Rifāʿah from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylá from Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān narrated it similarly. Its narrators are reliable except for Ibn Samʿān, whose name is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ziyād. Mālik, Ibn Maʿīn, and others said: a liar. Therefore, the primary reliance is on the first chain, and I mentioned this one to clarify its condition. There is supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) met Ḥudhayfah and wanted to shake his hand, but Ḥudhayfah withdrew... the ḥadīth is similar. Al-Haythamī said: "It was narrated by al-Bazzār, and in it is Muṣʿab ibn Thābit, whom Ibn Ḥibbān deemed trustworthy, but the majority weakened him."

- "The people of Yemen have arrived, and they are more tender-hearted than you (Anas said): and they were the first to introduce handshaking." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (967) and Aḥmad (3/212-251) through various chains from Ḥammād ibn Salamah from Ḥumayd from Anas ibn Mālik who said: "When the people of Yemen came, the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said..." The context is from al-Bukhārī without the addition, and it appears that his statement: "and they..." is part of the elevated ḥadīth, and al-Ḥāfiẓ followed this in "al-Fatḥ" (11/46) when he attributed it to al-Bukhārī: "with a sound chain from the path of Ḥumayd..." And in "Jāmiʿ Ibn Wahb" from this aspect: and they were the first to manifest handshaking
