a statement from before his memory, but he did not uniquely narrate the ḥadīth, so Aḥmad also said (6/71): Haytham ibn Khārijah narrated to us, saying: Ḥafṣ ibn Maysarah narrated to us from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from ʿĀʾishah that she said the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, except that he said: "Introduce gentleness to them." And with this wording, al-Mundhirī reported it (3/262) from the ḥadīth of ʿĀʾishah and said: "Aḥmad and al-Bazzār narrated it from the ḥadīth of Jābir, and their narrators are the narrators of the authentic [collections]." And something similar is in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (8/19) by al-Haythamī, and the second isnād of Aḥmad is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī. The reason for the ḥadīth is what al-Miqdām ibn Shurayḥ narrated from his father, who said: I asked ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā) about the desert life, and she said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to go out to these hills, and once he intended to live in the desert, so he sent for a she-camel from the camels of charity and said to me: O ʿĀʾishah, be gentle, for gentleness was never in anything except that it beautified it, and it was never removed from anything except that it marred it."
كلام من قبل حفظه لكنه لم يتفرد بالحديث، فقال أحمد أيضا (٦ / ٧١): حدثنا هيثم بن خارجة قال: حدثنا حفص بن ميسرة عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن عائشة أنها قالت قال رسول الله ﷺ فذكره إلا أنه قال: "أدخل عليهم الرفق". وبهذا اللفظ أورده المنذري (٣ / ٢٦٢) من حديث عائشة وقال: "رواه أحمد والبزار من حديث جابر ورواتهما رواة الصحيح". ونحوه في "مجمع الزوائد" (٨ / ١٩) للهيثمي وإسناد أحمد الثاني صحيح على شرط البخاري. وسبب الحديث ما روى المقدام بن شريح عن أبيه قال: سألت عائشة ﵂ عن البداوة فقالت: "كان رسول الله ﷺ يبدو إلى هذه التلاع وإنه أراد البداوة مرة، فأرسل إلى ناقة مرحمة من إبل الصدقة فقال لي: يا عائشة ارفقي، فإن الرفق لم يكن في شيء قط إلا زانه ولا نزع من شيء قط إلا شانه".
- "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to go out to these hills, and once he intended to live in the desert, so he sent for a she-camel from the camels of charity and said to me: O ʿĀʾishah, be gentle, for gentleness was never in anything except that it beautified it, and it was never removed from anything except that it marred it." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2478) with this context and by Aḥmad (6/58/222) from the path of Sharīk from al-Miqdām. And Sharīk had poor memory, but he was followed by Shuʿbah in Muslim (8/22-23) and al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (469/475) and Aḥmad (6/125/171) and Isrāʾīl in Aḥmad (6/112/206).
- "كان رسول الله ﷺ يبدو إلى هذه التلاع وإنه أراد البداوة مرة، فأرسل إلى ناقة محرمة من إبل الصدقة فقال لي: يا عائشة ارفقي، فإن الرفق لم يكن في شيء قط إلا زانه ولا نزع من شيء قط إلا شانه". أخرجه أبو داود (٢٤٧٨) والسياق له وأحمد (٦ / ٥٨ / ٢٢٢) من طريق شريك عن المقدام. وشريك سيء الحفظ لكن تابعه شعبة عند مسلم (٨ / ٢٢ - ٢٣) والبخاري في "الأدب المفرد" (٤٦٩ / ٤٧٥) وأحمد (٦ / ١٢٥ / ١٧١) وإسرائيل عند أحمد (٦ / ١١٢ / ٢٠٦).
- "Whenever two Muslims meet and shake hands, they are forgiven before they part." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (5212), al-Tirmidhī (2/121), Ibn Mājah (3703), Aḥmad (4/289/303), and Ibn ʿAdī (31/1) from the path of al-Ajlah from Abū Isḥāq from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and al-Tirmidhī said:
