the reason for composing the book: Since I did not find a comprehensive book on this subject, I felt it was my duty to compile for my fellow Muslims—those whose concern is to follow the guidance of their Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in their worship—a book that encompasses, as much as possible, everything related to the description of the Prophet's prayer (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), from the takbīr to the taslīm, in such a way that it becomes easy for those who review it—those who sincerely love the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)—to fulfill his command in the aforementioned ḥadīth: "Pray as you have seen me praying." For this reason, I rolled up my sleeves and diligently pursued the ḥadīths related to my objective from various ḥadīth collections, resulting in this book that is in your hands. I have committed to myself not to include in it any prophetic ḥadīths except those whose chains of transmission are authenticated according to the principles and foundations of the noble ḥadīth. I have disregarded everything that is uniquely reported by an unknown or weak narrator, whether it pertains to forms, supplications, virtues, or others, because I believe that what is authenticated from the ḥadīth suffices over the weak ones, as they only provide—without dispute—speculation, and speculation is not beneficial, as Allāh says: "Conjecture avails nothing against the truth" (Sūrah Yūnus, 36). The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the most false of speech" (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). Allāh, the Exalted, has not commanded us to act upon it; rather, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade us from it, saying:
