the first benefit: It is noticeable that most of these types of phrases for sending prayers upon him (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) do not mention Ibrāhīm himself independently from his family, but rather include: (as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrāhīm). The reason for this is that the family of a man in the Arabic language includes the man himself as well as others related to him, as in the verse of Allāh: "Indeed, Allāh chose Adam and Noah and the family of Ibrāhīm and the family of ʿImrān over the worlds" (Āl ʿImrān, 23) and His saying: "Except the family of Lot, We saved them before dawn" (Al-Qamar, 34). And from it is his (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saying: (O Allāh, send prayers upon the family of Abū Awfá) and likewise the term "people of the house" as in the verse of Allāh: "The mercy of Allāh and His blessings are upon you, people of the house" (Hūd, 73) for Ibrāhīm is included among them. الفائدة الأولى: من الملحوظ أن أكثر هذه الأنواع من صيغ الصلاة عليه ﷺ ليس فيها ذكر إبراهيم نفسه مستقلا عن آله وإنما فيها: (كما صليت على آل إبراهيم). والسبب في ذلك أن آل الرجل في اللغة العربية يتناول الرجل كما يتناول غيره ممن يؤوله كما في قوله تعالى: إن الله اصطفى آدم ونوحا وآل إبراهيم وآل عمران على العالمين آل عمران (٢٣) وقوله: إلا آل لوط نجيناهم بسحر القمر (٣٤). ومنه قوله ﷺ: (اللهم صل على آل أبي أوفى) وكذلك لفظ أهل البيت كقوله تعالى: رحمة الله وبركاته عليكم أهل البيت هود (٧٣) فإن إبراهيم داخل فيهم قال (شيخ الإسلام) :(ولهذا جاء في أكثر الألفاظ: (كما صليت على آل إبراهيم) و (كما
