(al-Bukhārī and Muslim, and it was authenticated by al-Tirmidhī) and he explained the command with this in another ḥadīth by saying: "for whoever's words coincide with the words of the angels, his past sins will be forgiven." He would raise his hands at this point of standing, as previously mentioned in the opening takbīr, and say—while standing—as mentioned earlier: At times, he would say: At other times, he would add to these words, saying: He would command this by saying: "When the imām says 'Allāh hears the one who praises Him,' then say: 'O Allāh, our Lord, to You belongs all praise,' for whoever's words coincide with the words of the angels, his past sins will be forgiven."
(البخاري ومسلم وصححه الترمذي) وعلل الأمر بذلك في حديث آخر بقوله: (فإنه من وافق قوله قول الملائكة غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه). وكان يرفع يديه عند هذا الاعتدال على الوجوه المتقدمة في تكبيرة الإحرام ويقول - وهو قائم - كما مر آنفا: وتارة يقول: وتارة يضيف إلى هذين اللفظين قوله: وكان يأمر بذلك فيقول: (إذا قال الإمام سمع الله لمن حمده فقولوا: اللهم ربنا لك الحمد فإنه من وافق قوله قول الملائكة غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه).
