(Muslim and Aḥmad) ʿUthmān ibn Abī al-ʿĀṣ (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) said to him: O Messenger of Allāh, indeed Satan has come between me and my prayer and my recitation, confusing them for me. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "That is a devil called Khanzab. When you sense him, seek refuge in Allāh from him and spit lightly to your left three times." He said: I did that, and Allāh removed him from me during the bowing
(مسلم وأحمد) وقال له عثمان بن أبي العاص رضي الله عن هـ: يا رسول الله إن الشيطان قد حال بيني وبين صلاتي وقراءتي يلبسها علي. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: (ذاك شيطان يقال له: خنزب فإذا أحسسته فتعوذ بالله منه واتفل على يسارك ثلاثا). قال: ففعلت ذلك فأذهبه الله عني الركوع.
