is He, or He is He, and similar expressions, the pronoun does not refer except to what the heart imagines, and the heart may be guided or may go astray. The author of "al-Fuṣūṣ" composed a book he named "al-Huwā," and some claimed that his saying (Sūrah Āl ʿImrān, 7): ﴿and none knows its interpretation except Allāh﴾ means: none knows the interpretation of this name, which is al-Huwā. And although this is something on which the Muslims, indeed the rational people, agree as being among the clearest falsehoods, there may be those among them who think it. I once said to someone who said something of that sort: if this was what you said, the verse would have been written: and none knows its interpretation (He) separately. Then, it is often mentioned by some of the shaykhs that they argue based on the statement: (Allāh) with His saying (Sūrah al-Anʿām, 91): ﴿Say: Allāh, then leave them﴾ and they think that Allāh commanded His Prophet to say the singular name, and this is an error by the consensus of the people of knowledge. For His saying: ﴿Say: Allāh﴾ means: Allāh who sent down the Book that Mūsá brought, and it is an answer to His saying: ﴿Say: Who sent down the Book that Mūsá brought as a light and guidance for the people, which you make into sheets, showing some and concealing much, and you were taught what you did not know, neither you nor your forefathers? Say: Allāh﴾. That is: Allāh who sent down the Book that Mūsá brought, refuting the statement of those who said: ﴿Allāh has not sent down anything to any human being﴾ so He said: ﴿Who sent down the Book..
