humble towards the believers, stern towards the disbelievers, striving in the way of Allāh and not fearing the blame of any critic. (Sūrah al-Māʾidah, 54). For this reason, the love of this ummah for Allāh is more complete than the love of those before them, and their servitude to Allāh is more complete than the servitude of those before them. The most complete of this ummah in that regard are the Companions of Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and whoever resembles them the most, that completeness is found in him. So where is this in comparison to people who claim love? In the words of some of the shaykhs: Love is a fire that burns in the heart everything except the desire of the beloved. And they intended that the entire universe was willed by Allāh to exist, so they thought that the perfection of love is that a servant loves everything, even disbelief, immorality, and disobedience and

Rather, one loves what aligns with and benefits him and hates what opposes and harms him. However, they took advantage of this misguidance to follow their desires, which further immersed them in their desires and passions. Thus, they love what they desire, such as images, leadership, excessive wealth, and misleading innovations, claiming that this is from the love of Allāh. And from the love of Allāh is to hate what Allāh and His Messenger hate and to strive against its people with oneself and wealth. The root of their misguidance: is that this speaker who said: Love is a fire that burns everything except the desire of the beloved, intended by the will of Allāh the universal will in all existences. However, if a believer in Allāh, His books, and His messengers said this statement, he would mean the religious, legislative will which is in the sense of His love and pleasure, so it is as if he
