just as the exemplar who is emulated. And Allāh, the Exalted, placed prophethood and the scripture in his progeny, and He sent the prophets after him with his creed. Allāh, the Exalted, said (Sūrah al-Naḥl, 123): "Then We revealed to you to follow the creed of Ibrāhīm, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh." And Allāh, the Exalted, said (Sūrah Āl ʿImrān, 68): "Indeed, the most worthy of Ibrāhīm among the people are those who followed him, and this Prophet, and those who believe. And Allāh is the ally of the believers." And Allāh, the Exalted, said (Sūrah Āl ʿImrān, 67): "Ibrāhīm was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was inclining toward truth, a Muslim, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh." And Allāh, the Exalted, said (Sūrah al-Baqarah, 135-136): "And they say, 'Be Jews or Christians, you will be guided.' Say, 'Rather, [we follow] the creed of Ibrāhīm, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh.' * Say, 'We believe in Allāh and what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Ibrāhīm, Ismāʿīl, Isḥāq, Yaʿqūb, and the descendants'" until His saying: "and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him." It is established in "al-Ṣaḥīḥ" from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that "Ibrāhīm is the best of creation." He is the best of the prophets after the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and he is the intimate friend of Allāh, the Exalted. It is established in "al-Ṣaḥīḥ" from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) from multiple sources that he said: "Indeed, Allāh has taken me as an intimate friend just as He took Ibrāhīm."
كَمَا أَن الْقدْوَة الذى يقْتَدى بِهِ. وَالله تَعَالَى جعل فِي ذُريَّته النُّبُوَّة وَالْكتاب وَإِنَّمَا بعث الْأَنْبِيَاء بعده بملته. قَالَ تَعَالَى [١٢٣ النَّحْل] : ﴿ثمَّ أَوْحَينَا إِلَيْك أَن اتبع مِلَّة إِبْرَاهِيم حَنِيفا وَمَا كَانَ من الْمُشْركين﴾. وَقَالَ تَعَالَى [٦٨ آل عمرَان] : ﴿إِن أولى النَّاس بإبراهيم للَّذين اتَّبعُوهُ وَهَذَا النَّبِي وَالَّذين آمنُوا وَالله ولي الْمُؤمنِينَ﴾. وَقَالَ تَعَالَى [٦٧ آل عمرَان] : ﴿مَا كَانَ إِبْرَاهِيم يَهُودِيّا وَلَا نَصْرَانِيّا وَلَكِن كَانَ حَنِيفا مُسلما وَمَا كَانَ من الْمُشْركين﴾. وَقَالَ تَعَالَى [١٣٥-١٣٦ الْبَقَرَة] : ﴿وَقَالُوا كونُوا هودا أَو نَصَارَى تهتدوا قل بل مِلَّة إِبْرَاهِيم حَنِيفا وَمَا كَانَ من الْمُشْركين * قُولُوا آمنا بِاللَّه وَمَا أنزل إِلَيْنَا وَمَا أنزل إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيم وَإِسْمَاعِيل وَإِسْحَاق وَيَعْقُوب والأسباط﴾ إِلَى قَوْله: ﴿وَنحن لَهُ مُسلمُونَ﴾. وَقد ثَبت فِي " الصَّحِيح " عَن النَّبِي ﷺ: أَن " إِبْرَاهِيم خير الْبَريَّة ". فَهُوَ أفضل الْأَنْبِيَاء بعد النَّبِي ﷺ وَهُوَ خَلِيل الله تَعَالَى. وَقد ثَبت فِي " الصَّحِيح " عَن النَّبِي ﷺ من غير وَجه أَنه قَالَ: " إِن الله اتخذنى خَلِيلًا كَمَا اتخذ إِبْرَاهِيم.
