"And they say, 'The Most Merciful has taken a son.' Exalted is He; rather, they are [but] honored servants. They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command. He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves, and they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive." (al-Anbiyāʾ, 21:26-28) And He, the Exalted, said (Maryam, 19:88-95): "And they say, 'The Most Merciful has taken a son.' You have done an atrocious thing. The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation that they attribute to the Most Merciful a son. And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful to take a son. There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant. He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting. And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone." And He, the Exalted, said regarding the Messiah (al-Zukhruf, 43:59): "He was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel." And He, the Exalted, said (al-Anbiyāʾ, 21:19-20): "To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire. They exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken." And He, the Exalted, said (al-Nisāʾ, 4:172-173): "The Messiah would never disdain to be a servant of Allāh, nor would the angels near [to Him]. And whoever disdains His worship and is arrogant - He will gather them to Himself all together. So as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards and grant them extra from His bounty. But as for those who disdained and were arrogant, He will punish them with a painful punishment, and they will not find for themselves besides Allāh any protector or helper." And He, the Exalted, said (Ghāfir, 40:60): "And your Lord says, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you.' Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible." And He, the Exalted, said (Fuṣṣilat, 41:37-38): "And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostrate to Allāh, who created them, if it should be Him that you worship. But if they are arrogant, then those who are near your Lord exalt Him by night and by day, and they do not become weary." And He, the Exalted, said (al-Aʿrāf, 7:205-206): "And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech..
