false deities. Among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was deserved." And He, the Exalted, said (al-Anbiyāʾ, 25): "And We did not send before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that there is no deity except Me, so worship Me." And He, the Exalted, said (al-Anbiyāʾ, 92): "Indeed, this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me," as He said in another verse (al-Muʾminūn, 51-52): "O messengers, eat from the good things and act righteously. Indeed, I am Knowing of what you do. * And indeed, this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." And He made that obligatory for His Messenger until death, as He said (al-Ḥijr, 99): "And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty [death]." And with that, He described His angels and prophets, as He, the Exalted, said (al-Anbiyāʾ, 19-20): "And to Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire. * They exalt [Him] night and day and do not slacken." And He, the Exalted, said (al-Aʿrāf, 206): "Indeed, those who are near your Lord are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, and they exalt Him, and to Him they prostrate." And He condemned those who are arrogant towards it by saying (Ghāfir, 60): "And your Lord said, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you. Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.'" And He described the elite of His creation with servitude to Him, as He, the Exalted, said (al-Insān, 6): "A spring from which the servants of Allāh will drink; they will make it gush forth in force."
