using predestination as an argument, for this is not said by a Muslim or a rational person. If this were an excuse, it would have been an excuse for Iblīs, the people of Nūḥ, the people of Hūd, and every disbeliever. Mūsá did not blame Ādam for the sin either, for Ādam had repented to his Lord, who chose him and guided him. Rather, he blamed him for the calamity that befell them due to the sin. That is why he said: "Why did you expel us and yourself from Paradise?" Ādam replied: "This was decreed for me before I was created." Thus, the action and the resulting calamity were predestined, and what is decreed in terms of calamities must be accepted, for it is part of complete satisfaction with Allāh as Lord. As for sins, the servant does not have the right to sin, and if he sins, he must seek forgiveness and repent. He should repent from all kinds of faults and be patient with calamities. Allāh, the Exalted, said [Sūrah Ghāfir, 55]: "So be patient, indeed, the promise of Allāh is truth, and seek forgiveness for your sin." And He said [Sūrah Āl ʿImrān, 120]: "And if you are patient and fear Allāh, their plot will not harm you at all." And He said [Sūrah Āl ʿImrān, 186]: "And if you are patient and fear Allāh, then indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination." And Yūsuf (peace be upon him) said [Sūrah Yūsuf, 90]: "Indeed, he who fears Allāh and is patient, then indeed, Allāh does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good." Likewise, regarding the sins of the servants, it is obligatory for the servant to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong according to his ability, and to strive in the cause of Allāh against the disbelievers and hypocrites. He should ally with the allies of Allāh and oppose the enemies of Allāh, and love for the sake of Allāh and hate for the sake of Allāh, as Allāh, the Exalted, said [Sūrah al-Mumtaḥanah, 1-4]:
