and this worship is what Allāh loves and is pleased with, and through it, He described the chosen ones among His servants and sent His messengers. As for the servant in the sense of being subjugated, whether he acknowledges it or denies it, this meaning is shared by both the believer and the disbeliever. By distinguishing between these two types, one understands the difference between the religious truths involved in the worship of Allāh, His religion, and His legal command, which He loves and is pleased with, and supports its adherents and honors them with His Paradise, and the universal truths shared by the believer and the disbeliever, the righteous and the wicked. Those who are content with the latter and do not follow the religious truths are among the followers of the accursed Iblīs and the disbelievers in the Lord of the worlds. And whoever is content with it in some matters but not others, or in one state [but not another], or in one condition [but not another], his faith and allegiance to Allāh decrease according to what he lacks of the religious truths. This is a great position in which many have erred, and confusion has abounded among the seekers, to the extent that even some of the greatest shaykhs claiming realization, tawḥīd, and knowledge have slipped in it, and none can enumerate them except Allāh, who knows the secret and the manifest. To this, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir (may Allāh have mercy on him) alluded in what is reported from him, clarifying that many of the men, when they reach the decree..
وَهَذِه الْعِبَادَة هِيَ الَّتِي يُحِبهَا الله ويرضاها وَبهَا وصف المصطفين من عباده وَبهَا بعث رسله. وَأما العَبْد بِمَعْنى المعبّد سَوَاء أقرّ بذلك أَو أنكرهُ فَهَذَا الْمَعْنى يشْتَرك فِيهِ الْمُؤمن وَالْكَافِر. وبالفرق بَين هذَيْن النَّوْعَيْنِ يعرف الْفرق بَين الْحَقَائِق الدِّينِيَّة الدَّاخِلَة فِي عبَادَة الله وَدينه وَأمره الشَّرْعِيّ الَّتِي يُحِبهَا ويرضاها ويوالى أَهلهَا ويكرمهم بجنته وَبَين الْحَقَائِق الكونية الَّتِي يشْتَرك فِيهَا الْمُؤمن وَالْكَافِر وَالْبر والفاجر الَّتِي من اكْتفى بهَا وَلم يتبع الْحَقَائِق الدِّينِيَّة كَانَ من أَتبَاع إِبْلِيس اللعين والكافرين بِرَبّ الْعَالمين. وَمن اكْتفى فِيهَا فِي بِبَعْض الْأُمُور دون بعض أَو فِي مقَام [دون مقَام] أَو حَال [دون حَال] نقص من إيمَانه وولايته لله بِحَسب مَا نقص من الْحَقَائِق الدِّينِيَّة وَهَذَا مقَام عَظِيم غلط فِيهِ الغالطون وَكثر فِيهِ الِاشْتِبَاه على السالكين حَتَّى زلق فِيهِ من أكَابِر الشُّيُوخ المدّعين للتحقيق والتوحيد والعرفان مَا لَا يحصيهم إِلَّا الله الَّذِي يعلم السِّرّ والإعلان. وَإِلَى هَذَا أَشَارَ الشَّيْخ عبد الْقَادِر ﵀ فِيمَا ذكر عَنهُ فبيّن أَن كثيرا من الرِّجَال (إِذا وصلوا إِلَى الْقَضَاء
