making worship, fear, and piety for Allāh, and making obedience and love for Allāh and His Messenger, as in the words of Noah (peace be upon him) (Sūrah Nūḥ, 3): "That you worship Allāh, fear Him, and obey me." And His words (Sūrah al-Nūr, 52): "And whoever obeys Allāh and His Messenger, fears Allāh, and is conscious of Him, then those are the successful ones," and similar examples. The messengers commanded the worship of Him alone, turning to Him, relying on Him, obeying Him, and obeying them. But Satan led the Christians and their likes astray, so they associated others with Allāh and disobeyed the Messenger, as in "They took their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allāh, and [also] the Messiah, son of Mary" (Sūrah al-Tawbah, 31). So they began to turn to them, rely on them, and ask them, while disobeying their commands and opposing their sunnah. And Allāh guided the believers who are sincere to Him.

those who recognized the truth and followed it, so they were not among those who incurred [Allāh's] wrath nor of those who went astray. They devoted their religion to Allāh, submitted their faces to Allāh, turned to their Lord, loved Him, hoped for Him, feared Him, asked Him, and turned to Him. They entrusted their affairs to Him, relied on Him, obeyed His messengers, honored them, respected them, loved them, allied with them, followed them, emulated their footsteps, and were guided by their light
