And the saying of Allāh, the Exalted: "But if they argue with you, say, 'I have submitted my face to Allāh, and [so have] those who follow me.'" (Sūrah Āl ʿImrān, 20). And in the authentic collection from ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Islam is to testify that there is no deity but Allāh and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh, to establish prayer, to give zakāh, to fast during Ramaḍān, and to perform ḥajj to the House if you are able to find a way to it." And in it from Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) in a marfūʿ ḥadīth: "A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe." And from Bahz ibn Ḥakīm, from his father, from his grandfather, that he asked the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) about Islam, and he said: "It is that you submit your heart to Allāh, and that you turn your face to Allāh, and that you perform the prescribed prayers and give the obligatory zakāh." Narrated by Aḥmad. And from Abū Qilābah, from a man from the people of Shām, from his father, that he asked the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): What is Islam? He said: "It is that you submit your heart to Allāh, and that the Muslims are safe from your tongue and hand. He said: Which Islam is best? He said: Faith. He said: And what is faith? He said: That you believe in Allāh, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the resurrection after death."
