"he died in the year eighty-six" and he did not mention any criticism or praise about him. As for Ibn Ḥibbān, he mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (1/227) and gave him the kunya Abū Ṣāliḥ. B - from ʿĀṣim ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿĀṣim ibn ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb: that a man sharpened a knife and took a sheep to slaughter it, so ʿUmar hit him with a stick and said, "Are you torturing the soul? Why didn't you do this before you took it?" This was narrated by al-Bayhaqī (9/280-281). C - from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn: that ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) saw a man dragging a sheep to slaughter it, so he hit him with a stick and said, "Lead it—may your mother be bereft of you—to death gently." This was also narrated by al-Bayhaqī. D - from Wahb ibn Kaysān: that Ibn ʿUmar saw a shepherd with sheep in a bad place, and Ibn ʿUmar saw a better place for them, so Ibn ʿUmar said, "Woe to you, shepherd, move them, for I heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: 'Every shepherd is responsible for his flock.'" This was narrated by Aḥmad (no. 5869) and its chain is good. E - from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah who said: Abū al-Dardāʾ had a camel called (Damūn), and when they borrowed it from him, he would say, "Do not load it with more than such and such, for it cannot bear more than that." When his death approached, he said: O
" مات سنة ست وثمانين " ولم يذكر فيه جرحا ولا تعديلا، وأما ابن حبان فذكره في " الثقات " (١ / ٢٢٧) وكناه بأبي صالح. ب - عن عاصم بن عبيد الله بن عاصم بن عمر بن الخطاب: أن رجلا حد شفرة وأخذ شاة ليذبحها، فضربه عمر بالدرة وقال أتعذب الروح؟! ألا فعلت هذا قبل أن تأخذها؟ ! رواه البيهقي (٩ / ٢٨٠ - ٢٨١). ج - عن محمد بن سيرين: أن عمر ﵁ رأى رجلا يجر شاة ليذبحها فضربه بالدرة وقال: سقها - لا أم لك - إلى الموت سوقا جميلا. رواه البيهقي أيضا. د - عن وهب بن كيسان: أن ابن عمر رأى راعي غنم في مكان قبيح، وقد رأى ابن عمر مكانا أمثل منه، فقال ابن عمر: ويحك يا راعي حولها، فإني سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: " كل راع مسؤول عن رعيته ". رواه أحمد (رقم ٥٨٦٩) وسنده حسن. هـ - عن معاوية بن قرة قال: كان لأبي الدرداء جمل يقال له: (دمون)، فكان إذا استعاروه منه قال: لا تحملوا عليه إلا كذا وكذا، فإنه لا يطيق أكثر من ذلك، فلما حضرته الوفاة قال: يا
