Abū Umāmah, attributed [to the Prophet]. I said: Its chain of transmission is good, and al-Haythamī said (4/33): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and its narrators are trustworthy." It was also narrated by al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in 'al-Mukhtārah' as mentioned in 'al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr' by al-Suyūṭī.
أبي أمامة مرفوعا. قلت: وسنده حسن، وقال الهيثمي (٤ / ٣٣) : " رواه الطبراني في " الكبير " ورجاله ثقات ". ورواه الضياء المقدسي في " المختارة " كما في " الجامع الصغير " للسيوطي.

"A woman was punished because of a cat which she confined until it died; she entered the Fire because of it. She neither fed it nor gave it water when she confined it, nor did she let it eat from the insects of the earth." Narrated by al-Bukhārī in 'Ṣaḥīḥ' (2/78 European edition) and in 'al-Adab al-Mufrad' (no. 379) and Muslim (7/43) from the ḥadīth of Nāfiʿ from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, attributed [to the Prophet]. And by Muslim and Aḥmad (2/507) through various chains from Abū Hurayrah, attributed [to the Prophet], similarly. (Insects of the earth) refers to insects and creeping creatures.
- " عذبت امرأة في هرة سجنتها حتى ماتت، فدخلت فيها النار، لا هي أطعمتها وسقتها إذ حبستها ولا هي تركتها تأكل من خشاش الأرض ". رواه البخاري في " صحيحه " (٢ / ٧٨ طبع أوربا) وفي " الأدب المفرد " (رقم ٣٧٩) ومسلم (٧ / ٤٣) من حديث نافع عن عبد الله بن عمر مرفوعا. ومسلم وأحمد (٢ / ٥٠٧) من طرق عن أبي هريرة مرفوعا نحوه. (خشاش الأرض) هي الحشرات والهوام.

"While a man was walking on a path, he became extremely thirsty. He found a well, descended into it, drank, and came out. Then he saw a dog panting and eating the soil out of thirst. The man said: 'This dog has reached the same level of thirst as I had.' So he descended into the well, filled his shoe, held it with his mouth, climbed up, and gave the dog water. Allāh appreciated his deed and forgave him." They said: "O Messenger of Allāh, is there a reward for us in [serving] animals?" He said: "In every living being with a moist liver, there is a reward." Narrated by Mālik in 'al-Muwaṭṭaʾ' (pp. 929-930) and from him by al-Bukhārī in 'Ṣaḥīḥ' (2/77-78, 103, 4/117 European edition), and in 'al-Adab al-Mufrad' (no. 378)
- " بينما رجل يمشي بطريق، إذ اشتد عليه العطش، فوجد بئرا فنزل فيها فشرب وخرج فإذا كلب يلهث يأكل الثرى من العطش، فقال الرجل: لقد بلغ هذا الكلب من العطش مثل الذي بلغ مني، فنزل البئر فملأ خفه، ثم أمسكه بفيه حتى رقي فسقى الكلب فشكر الله له، فغفر له، فقالوا: يا رسول الله وإن لنا في البهائم لأجرا؟ فقال: في كل ذات كبد رطبة أجر ". رواه مالك في " الموطأ " (ص ٩٢٩ - ٩٣٠) وعنه البخاري في " صحيحه " (٢ / ٧٧- ٧٨، ١٠٣، ٤ / ١١٧ طبع أوربا) ، وفي " الأدب المفرد " (رقم ٣٧٨)
