- "Kill the snakes and dogs, and kill the one with two stripes and the short-tailed one; for they impair vision and cause miscarriages." It is reported from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar and ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhumā): A- As for the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar; it is narrated by Sālim ibn ʿAbd Allāh from Ibn ʿUmar who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) command the killing of dogs, and he said: ... and he mentioned it. It is recorded by Muslim (7/38) - thus with the addition: "the dogs" ... And it is recorded by al-Bukhārī (3297), Abū Dāwūd (5/411/5252), and al-Tirmidhī (5/191/1528) - and he authenticated it - and Ibn Mājah (2/1169/3535), and Ibn Ḥibbān (7/461/5609), and Aḥmad (2/9 and 121), and they do not have the wording: "the dogs." It has also come through the route of Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar, with the two Shaykhs and others, and it is referenced in "al-Irwāʾ" under number (2549). 2- As for the ḥadīth of ʿĀʾishah; there are several routes from her: the first: from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from her (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā). It is recorded by al-Bukhārī (2308), and Ibn Mājah (2/1169/3534), and Aḥmad (6/29, 52, 134, and 230) in a shortened form. The second: from Sāʾibah from her (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā). It is recorded by Aḥmad (6/49, 83, and 147). And it is recorded by Mālik (3/142) from al-Sāʾibah in a mursal form
