(If you pass by a land where a nation has been destroyed, then hasten your pace). It was recorded by Abū al-Shaykh in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (p. 52/1), and from him by Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/139): Salm ibn ʿIṣām narrated to us saying: I found in my father's book that he said: Jahūr ibn Sufyān al-Jarmūzī narrated to me saying: My father Sufyān ibn al-Ḥārith narrated to me saying: Abū Ghālib narrated to me from Abū Umāmah who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ... and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is weak; Sufyān ibn al-Ḥārith is unknown, mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (2/1/221), who said: "He narrated from Muḥammad ibn Kaʿb, and ʿĀṣim ibn Kulayb narrated from him." He did not mention any criticism or praise about him, and it appears that it is this one, and therefore; it should have been mentioned among those who narrated from him, his son Jahūr, as he was described as truthful; perhaps he did not come across this narration. Then I saw that he mentioned in the biography (of the son) that he narrated from his father. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned the father in "al-Thiqāt" through the narration of his son Jahūr from him. And ʿIṣām: he is Salm ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Maryam Abū Salm ibn ʿIṣām, Abū al-Shaykh said: "From the people of Medina, he died in the year two hundred and thirty-one, his ḥadīth was not recorded, and he died young!" He did not mention any criticism or praise about him. The ḥadīth is attributed in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" (1/82/2) to al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr"; and it is there (8/333/8068 and 8069) through two other chains from Jahūr ibn Sufyān. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/290): "Narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and its men are trustworthy, though there is some disagreement about some of them."
