and al-Ḥajjāj ibn Arṭāh is a mudallis and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah. al-Haythamī overlooked the first defect and the true defect of al-Ḥajjāj, and said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ', and in it is al-Ḥajjāj ibn Arṭāh, and he is weak"!! I say: he declared him weak, and this is a mistake; for he is reliable in himself, and his defect is only that he practices tadlīs. If he explicitly states the transmission, he is a proof, and here he narrated it with ʿanʿanah, so that is the defect. And he was contradicted, as will come. As for the mawqūf narration; Ibn Abī Shaybah said in "al-Muṣannaf" (8/538/3160): Ibn Numayr narrated to us from al-Aʿmash from ʿAbdullāh ibn Murrah from Abū Maʿmar who said: Abū Bakr said: "He disbelieves in Allāh who claims a lineage that is not known, and disowns a lineage even if it is slight." And Shuʿbah followed him from Sulaymān - who is al-Aʿmash. It was extracted by al-Khaṭīb. And Abū Maʿmar is ʿAbdullāh ibn Sukhbarah. I say: This isnād is authentic and mawqūf, and in my critique, it is in the ruling of marfūʿ; because it is not said by ijtihād and opinion. And Allāh knows best. *******
