Fourth: Shurayḥ ibn ʿUbayd said: when Allāh revealed: "O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion..." to the end of the verse; ʿUmar said: "Is it me and my people, O Messenger of Allāh?!" He said: "No, rather it is him and his people," meaning Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī. It was recorded by Ibn Jarīr. Its isnād is mursal and authentic; all its narrators are trustworthy; thus, it is a strong witness in general. And Allāh knows best. *******

- when (the verse) "When the victory of Allāh has come and the conquest" was revealed, he said: "The people of Yemen have come to you; they are more tender-hearted, faith is Yemeni, jurisprudence is Yemeni, wisdom is Yemeni." It was recorded by ʿAbd al-Razzāq in his "Tafsīr" (2/404) and through his route by Aḥmad in his "Musnad" (2/277): Hishām ibn Ḥassān narrated to us from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn who said: I heard Abū Hurayrah say: ... and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two shaykhs. It was also recorded by Muslim (1/52) and others through another route from Ibn Sīrīn with it, without the verse. Likewise, it was recorded by him, al-Bukhārī (4388-4390), Ibn Ḥibbān (7253 and 7255-7256), Abū ʿAwānah (1/59-60), and others through other routes from Abū Hurayrah with it, and it is included in "al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr" (1045).
