Yaʿqūb ibn Sufyān in "al-Maʿrifah" (3/101) [said] "There is no harm in him," and a group of trustworthy narrators reported from him. Refer to "Tahdhīb al-Mizzī" and the commentary on it (11/25-27). As for Saʿīd ibn Saʿīd; he is Abū al-Ṣabbāḥ al-Taghlibī al-Kūfī. Ibn Ḥibbān also mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (6/364), but it was recorded as ".. ibn Abī Saʿīd al-Thaʿlabī"! This is an error, as I explained in "Taysīr al-Intifāʿ." It has become clear from this investigation that three trustworthy narrators reported from him: Wakīʿ, Abū Usāmah, and Muḥammad ibn Rabīʿah al-Kilābī. Thus, his ḥadīth is ḥasan, if Allāh wills. This third narrator was not mentioned in "al-Tahdhībayn"; thus, it should be noted, and Allāh is the one who grants success. There is a concise supporting narration with the wording: "Whoever sends prayers upon me on his own accord; Allāh will send tenfold prayers upon him." It was recorded by al-Bazzār (4/46/3161) through the route of ʿĀṣim ibn ʿUbayd Allāh from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah from his father, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. ʿĀṣim is weak, as stated by al-Haythamī (10/161) and others. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "Mukhtaṣar al-Zawāʾid" (2/440), noting: "I said: but it is supported." He likely means: by the first ḥadīth, which is authentic except for the phrase: "on his own accord," and some of its sources were mentioned earlier.
