with another isnād from ʿUbādah?! I only said that he corroborates him because he is in the same generation as Ibn Lahīʿah and passed away about ten years before him; moreover, there is disagreement about him as mentioned by al-Haythamī. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but has poor memory, and he makes mistakes." Someone like him is also used as supporting evidence. Al-Mundhirī also mentioned the ḥadīth in "al-Targhīb" with a more complete context similar to that in "al-Majmaʿ"; he said (2/176): "Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī narrated it with two isnāds, one of which is ḥasan; and the wording is his." I do not know which of the two isnāds is ḥasan?! But there is no doubt that it is at least ḥasan when taken together, let alone when we add to them what we have previously mentioned. As for the commentators on the new edition of "al-Targhīb," they did not consider al-Mundhirī's explicit statement of improvement, nor the combination of the two paths, nor al-Haythamī's words either; they quoted him as is their custom, and prefaced it by saying: "Weak"!!
