"al-Bidāyah" (4/140) with another version from Yaʿlá that does not include the ḥadīth of the chapter, and he said afterward: "These are good multiple paths, which provide a preponderance of assumption or certainty—according to the experts—that Yaʿlá ibn Murrah narrated this story in general." al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said in "al-Tamhīd" (1/221): "The ḥadīths indicating his prophethood are too numerous to count, and many people have compiled a great deal of them, all praise is due to Allāh. Among the best of them—and all of them are good—is what was narrated to us..." Then he presented the chain from al-Aʿmash from al-Minhāl from the aforementioned Yaʿlá. Our esteemed brother Ḥamdī al-Salafī has compiled its chains in his commentary on "al-Muʿjam" (22/264-266), and he discussed its narrators, although he did not address the differences between their texts and the additions found in this ḥadīth of the chapter, as the scope of the commentary is limited, as is apparent. Its corroboration, which was previously mentioned, I had compiled long ago in the fourth volume of this series (1718) with a good chain from the ḥadīth of Jābir—may Allāh be pleased with him—from two paths from al-Ajlah from al-Dhiyāl ibn Ḥurmalah from him, narrated by Aḥmad and others. Then I saw it from the narration of Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh from al-Ajlah with it; except that he said: "from Ibn ʿAbbās..." instead of "Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (12/155/12744), and al-Bayhaqī in "Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah" (6/30). al-Haythamī said (9/4): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and its men are trustworthy, though some have weakness."
