- (O Jābir! Did you not know that Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, revived your father and said to him: 'Ask of Me,' and he said: 'I wish to be returned to the world so that I may be killed again!' He said: 'I have decreed that they shall not return to it?!'). It was recorded by Aḥmad in "al-Musnad" (3/361) through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Rubayʿah al-Sulamī from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl from Jābir who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to me: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is good according to the well-known disagreement regarding (Ibn ʿAqīl), and the opinion settled upon by the later ḥadīth scholars is that he is moderate and his ḥadīth is good, especially if corroborated, as will be mentioned. And Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Rubayʿah al-Sulamī; he was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Maʿīn and Ibn Ḥibbān (7/435), and Abū Ḥātim said (278-28/120): "Truthful, there is no harm in him, his ḥadīth is sound." I said: And he was corroborated by Abū Ḥammād al-Ḥanafī from Ibn ʿAqīl who said: I heard Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrate it. It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/119-120), and he said: "Its isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I said: Abū Ḥammād is al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Ṣadaqah, and al-Nasāʾī said: Abandoned."
