Yazīd ibn al-Hād narrated from ʿAmr [the client of al-Muṭṭalib] from (1) Quhayd ibn Muṭarraf with it. It was also recorded by al-Bukhārī and Ibn Ḥibbān in the biography of (Quhayd) in "al-Thiqāt" (5/326) and by al-Mizzī in "al-Tahdhīb" (22/95) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ: al-Layth narrated it to me with it. Its chain is also authentic; however, there is a difference in its chain from al-Layth in three ways: this is one of them. The second: Aḥmad said (2/339), and al-Nasāʾī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (2/308/3245): Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd informed us, saying: al-Layth narrated to us from Ibn al-Hād from ʿAmr ibn Quhayd al-Ghifārī from Abū Hurayrah. Qutaybah was corroborated, as Aḥmad also said: Yūnus narrated to us: al-Layth narrated to us with it. The third: Shuʿayb ibn al-Layth narrated it, saying: al-Layth informed us from Ibn al-Hād from Quhayd ibn Muṭarraf with it, "thus omitting (ʿAmr) between Ibn al-Hād and Quhayd. It was also recorded by al-Nasāʾī (3546), and by al-Bayhaqī as well; however, he paired (Shuʿayb) with (ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥakam). They were followed by Abū Salamah al-Khuzāʿī: al-Layth narrated to us with it; except he did not name (Quhayd) and said: (Ibn Muṭarraf). It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/360). Al-Bayhaqī said after it: "Thus I found it, and the correct version is: from Ibn al-Hād from ʿAmr ibn Abī ʿAmr from Quhayd." Meaning as in the first way, and he was followed in this by the two ḥadīth scholars: al-Mizzī and al-ʿAsqalānī;
