and in relation to his aforementioned statement regarding his companionship; I was impressed by his frankness in it in "al-Siyar" (2/107); for he said: "He has the least share of companionship"! (Note): As for what al-Ḥākim narrated (3/476) through the chain of Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf from his father from his grandfather who said: Muʿāwiyah sent ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakr al-Ṣiddīq—(raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu)—one hundred thousand dirhams after he refused to pledge allegiance to Yazīd ibn Muʿāwiyah, but ʿAbd al-Raḥmān returned it and refused to take it, saying: Should I sell my religion for my worldly life?! And he went to Mecca until he died there. Al-Ḥākim and al-Dhahabī left it ungraded, perhaps due to its apparent weakness; for this Ibrāhīm, Ibn ʿAdī said: "Most of his ḥadīths are rejected." *

- (With one of you is Gabriel, and with the other is Michael; and Isrāfīl is a great angel witnessing the battle, or he said: witnessing the ranks! He said this to ʿAlī and Abū Bakr). It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (12/16/12002), Aḥmad (1/147), Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (3/175-176), al-Bazzār (2/314/1765), Abū Yaʿlá (1/283-283), Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah" (2/574-575), and al-Ḥākim (3/68) through the chain of Misʿar from Abū ʿAwn al-Thaqafī from Abū Ṣāliḥ al-Ḥanafī from ʿAlī who said: The Prophet ﷺ said to me and Abū Bakr—(raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) on the day of Badr: ... and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and al-Ḥāfiẓ confirmed it in "al-Fatḥ" (7/313). Al-Bazzār said: "We do not know it to be narrated from the Prophet ﷺ except through this isnād." *
