al-Haythamī said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ' and al-Bazzār, and the men of al-Bazzār are trustworthy." This is similar to the statement of al-Mundhirī before him in 'al-Targhīb' (1/79): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ' and al-Bazzār with an isnād that is acceptable, and it was narrated by Abū Yaʿlá, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī from the ḥadīth of al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib." I say: with the combination of the two paths to them along with the path of Umm al-Faḍl, the wife of al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, it can be said that the ḥadīth reaches the level of ḥasan, noting that its meaning corresponds to reality, and its first part is among his scientific miracles that indicate the truth of his prophethood (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). A man from those before you passed by a skull, and he looked at it, then he thought to himself about something and said: "O Lord! You are You, and I am I. You are the one who repeatedly forgives, and I am the one who repeatedly sins!" And he prostrated to Allāh, and it was said to him: "Raise your head, for you are the one who repeatedly sins, and I am the one who repeatedly forgives," [so he raised his head, and he was forgiven]. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī (2/147), al-Khaṭīb in 'al-Tārīkh' (9/92), al-Daylamī in 'Musnad al-Firdaws' (3/67), and Ibn ʿAsākir in 'Tārīkh Dimashq' (2/71) from the path of Saʿīd ibn Nuṣayr al-Baghdādī: "Siyyār ibn Ḥātim narrated to us: Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān al-Ḍubʿī said: I heard Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir narrate from Jābir in a marfūʿ manner." al-Khaṭīb said: "Siyyār ibn Ḥātim uniquely narrated it in this marfūʿ manner from Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān, and it was narrated by al-ʿAbbās."
