(Note): Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim included the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar in his book "al-Sunnah" (no. 1264) through another chain from him with a similar wording, and he added at the end: "Ibn ʿUmar said: By Allāh! The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) did not mention Abū Jahl to us that day!" This addition is false as it contradicts the aforementioned evidence, along with the weakness of the isnād. *A widow in her waiting period should mourn in black for only three days

- (Mourn for three days, then do as you wish. He said this to Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays when her husband Jaʿfar ibn Abī Ṭālib was martyred). It was narrated by Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (745 - Mawārid), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Sharḥ Maʿānī al-Āthār" (2/44), Aḥmad (6/438), Ibn Saʿd (8/282), Ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī in "al-Tafsīr" (2/318), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (24/139/369), Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (1/187), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (7/438) and "Maʿrifat al-Āthār" (6/61/4676) through many chains from Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah ibn Muṣarrif from al-Ḥakam ibn ʿUtaybah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaddād ibn al-Hād from Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays that she said: When Jaʿfar ibn Abī Ṭālib was martyred, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) commanded me and said: ... and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, although al-Bayhaqī criticized it for a break between ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaddād and Asmāʾ, and due to Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah! As for the break; it is a false claim, for ʿAbd Allāh is among the senior trustworthy followers, born during the Prophet's (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) time, and Asmāʾ is his maternal aunt, and he was not accused of tadlīs. As for Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah; he is among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, and there is slight criticism about him that does not disqualify him
