thirdly: limiting the criticism to the weakening of Yazīd shows clear leniency; for the man is in a worse condition; al-Nasāʾī and others have abandoned him. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Mālik and others declared him a liar."
ثالثاً: إن اقتصاره على تضعيف يزيد فيه تساهل واضح؛ فإن الرجل أسوأ حالاً؛ فقد تركه النسائي وغيره. وقال الحافظ في "التقريب ":"كذبه مالك وغيره ".

(When he was troubled by a matter, he would say: O Ever-Living, O Sustainer! By Your mercy, I seek help). It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (9/185/3524) and Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (109/332) - with this wording - through the route of Yazīd al-Raqāshī from Anas ibn Mālik who said: ... and he mentioned it. Al-Tirmidhī said: "This ḥadīth is gharīb." I say: Its defect is this Yazīd - who is Ibn Abān - and he is weak as mentioned in "al-Kāshif" and "al-Taqrīb," despite his piety and worship. However, it has a corroborating narration from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd who said: When the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was afflicted by worry or distress, he would say: ... and he mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Ḥākim in "al-Mustadrak" (1/509), and through his route by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Daʿawāt al-Kabīr" (127/170), through the route of al-Naḍr ibn Ismāʿīl al-Bajalī: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Isḥāq narrated to us: al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us from his father from him. Al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I say: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān did not hear from his father, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān and those after him are not reliable authorities."
(كان إذا حزبَه أمرٌ، قال: يا حيُ! يا قيُّومُ! برحمتِكَ أستغيثُ) . أخرجه الترمذي (٩/١٨٥/٣٥٢٤) ، وابن السني في "عمل اليوم والليلة "(١٠٩/٣٣٢) - واللفظ له- من طريق يزيد الرّقاشي عن أنس بن مالك قال: ... فذكره. وقال الترمذي:"حديث غريب ". قلت: وعلته يزيد هذا- وهو ابن أبان-، وهو ضعيف كما في "الكاشف "و"التقريب "، مع صلاحه وعبادته. لكن له شاهد من حديث عبد الله بن مسعود قال: كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا نزل به هم أو غم قال: ... فذكره. أخرجه الحاكم في "المستدرك " (١/٥٠٩) ، ومن طريقه البيهقي في "الدعوات الكبير" (١٢٧/ ١٧٠) ، من طريق النضر بن إسماعيل البجلي: ثنا عبد الرحمن بن إسحاق: ثنا القاسم بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه عنه. وقال الحاكم:"صحيح الإسناد". ورده الذهبي بقوله:"قلت: عبد الرحمن لم يسمع من أبيه، وعبد الرحمن ومن بعده ليسوا بحجة".
