he weakened the Prophet's ḥadīth by every means, ignoring a religious truth that is not hidden from any believer, which is Allāh's favor upon His servants; as He stated in His Book by saying: "And Allāh is the possessor of great bounty" (Sūrah al-Baqarah, verse 268), and in another verse: "And Allāh is the possessor of great bounty" (Sūrah al-Jumuʿah, verse 4). Moreover, the favor mentioned in the ḥadīth has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) — perhaps it did not reach his ears due to his youth! — narrated by ʿAlī ibn Zayd from Abū ʿUthmān who said: It reached me from Abū Hurayrah that he said: Indeed, Allāh gives His believing servant for a single good deed a million good deeds. He said: It so happened that I went for ḥajj or ʿumrah and I met him, so I said: It reached me from you a ḥadīth: that you say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "Indeed, Allāh gives His believing servant for a good deed a million good deeds"? Abū Hurayrah said: No, rather I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "Indeed, Allāh gives him two million good deeds. Then he recited: 'He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward'" (Sūrah an-Nisāʾ, verse 40). He said: When He says: "a great reward"; who can estimate its value?! It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/296 and 521-522) and others, and its narrators are trustworthy; except for ʿAlī ibn Zayd — who is Ibn Judʿān —; he has weakness due to his memory, and al-Dhahabī mentioned him in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ", saying: "His ḥadīth is acceptable." And al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Weak."
