It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (20/315/750) and the wording is his, and by Aḥmad (5/33). Abū Hilāl's name is Muḥammad ibn Salīm al-Rāsibī, and he is considered truthful but with some weakness, as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," so perhaps the omission is from him. He disagreed with Abū Usāmah in his isnād—his name is Ḥammād ibn Usāmah—: Yazīd—who is Ibn Hārūn al-Wāsiṭī—; he said: I am Khammas ibn al-Ḥasan: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shuqayq narrated to me: A man from ʿAnazah called Zāʾidah or Mazīdah ibn Ḥawālah said: We were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) on one of his journeys, and the Prophet stopped in the shade of a tree... then he mentioned another ḥadīth of Ibn Ḥawālah, and at the end of it, there is part of Abū Usāmah's ḥadīth which its narrator did not preserve. It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/33). I say: It seems to me from the context of the ḥadīth and the isnād that the narrator did not accurately record and memorize it, but I cannot determine who it is because they are all trustworthy. Al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned this Zāʾidah in "al-Iṣābah" because of this narration of Aḥmad; and I do not see that as good, especially since he did not approve of the action of Imām Aḥmad who included the ḥadīth in "Musnad ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥawālah" in full, which he narrated through the path of Yazīd ibn Hārūn and added to it; nothing was omitted from it, recorded by Aḥmad (4/109): Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, he said: al-Jurayrī narrated to us from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shuqayq from Ibn Ḥawālah, he said: I came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he was sitting in the shade of a tree... the ḥadīth, and in it, he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to him: "How will you act in a tribulation that arises at the edges of the earth..." and so on, similar to what is in the narration of Abū Usāmah, which was not preserved in the narration of Yazīd ibn Hārūn as previously indicated
