was aware of it (the demolisher)! Then he attributed another narration—which is also in "the authentic"—to al-Ṭabarī, and criticized it with a narrator who does not exist in his works! (Layers of darkness, one above another), (And for he to whom Allāh has not granted light, for him there is no light). I have detailed what I summarized here in my response to him: "al-Naṣīḥah" (p. 27).

(Cover the vessel and tie the waterskin; for in the year there is a night when a plague descends, and it does not pass by a vessel that is not covered or a waterskin that is not tied, except that some of that plague falls into it). It was narrated by Imām Aḥmad (3/355): Yūnus narrated to us: Layth narrated to us from Yazīd—meaning: Ibn al-Hād—from Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd from Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥakam from al-Qaʿqāʿ ibn Ḥakīm from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṣārī who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say... and he mentioned it. I say: This chain of narration is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs; except that al-Bukhārī did not narrate from Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allāh and his teacher al-Qaʿqāʿ except in "al-Adab al-Mufrad". Muslim has narrated their ḥadīth as will be mentioned. Layth is Ibn Saʿd, the Egyptian imām. Yūnus is Ibn Muḥammad, Abū Muḥammad al-Muʾaddib, and he is trustworthy and reliable. The ḥadīth was also narrated by al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (5/127/6059- Beirut) through this Yūnus. Yūnus was followed by Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim Abū al-Naḍr, who is also trustworthy and reliable. It was narrated by Muslim (6/107), and from his route: al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (11/392/3061), and Abū ʿAwānah (5/334)
