thus he said—may Allāh guide him—and he ignored the following facts: First, that this ʿAbd al-Raḥmān was also narrated from by a group of trustworthy narrators, and Ibn Ḥibbān declared him reliable, and Muslimah mentioned him in the (first rank) of the Followers, and he was also declared reliable by all the ḥadīth scholars who affirmed the authenticity of his ḥadīth—who are a group whose names will be mentioned—except for the three named by this obstinate person, and al-Dhahabī stated in "al-Kāshif" that he is "truthful." Second, he was not alone in narrating it; al-Ḥākim said (1/97): "And two trustworthy and reliable scholars from the leaders of the people of al-Shām followed ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAmr in his narration from al-ʿIrbāḍ: Ḥujr ibn Ḥujr al-Kalāʿī and Yaḥyá ibn Abī al-Muṭāʿ al-Qurashī." Then he provided his chain of narration to them, and said after that: "This ḥadīth is authentic, and all praise is due to Allāh." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: Its chain of narration is authentic to Yaḥyá al-Qurashī, who is trustworthy, and he explicitly stated hearing from al-ʿIrbāḍ with al-Ḥākim, Ibn Mājah, and Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim. Third, besides those previously mentioned, a group of ḥadīth scholars authenticated the ḥadīth, such as al-Bazzār, who said: "A firm authentic ḥadīth." And al-Harawī in "Dhamm al-Kalām," who said: "This is among the finest ḥadīth of the people of al-Shām."
