- "Indeed, Satan sits in wait for the son of Adam at his paths. He sat for him on the path of Islam and said: 'Will you accept Islam and abandon your religion and the religion of your fathers and forefathers?' But he disobeyed him and accepted Islam. Then he sat for him on the path of migration and said: 'Will you migrate and leave your land and sky, and the example of the migrant is like that of a horse in its tether?' But he disobeyed him and migrated. Then he sat for him on the path of jihad and said: 'Will you strive, for it is the effort of the self and wealth, and you will fight and be killed, and your wife will be married, and your wealth will be divided?' But he disobeyed him and engaged in jihad. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: 'Whoever does that, it is incumbent upon Allāh to admit him to Paradise. And whoever is killed, it is incumbent upon Allāh to admit him to Paradise. And if he drowns, it is incumbent upon Allāh to admit him to Paradise, or if his mount causes his death, it is incumbent upon Allāh to admit him to Paradise.'" It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr" (2/2/187-188), al-Nasāʾī (2/58), Ibn Ḥibbān (385/1601 - al-Mawārid), al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (4/21/4246), and Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (5/293) and through his route by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (7/138), and Aḥmad (3/483) from the route of Abū ʿAqīl ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAqīl who said: Mūsá ibn al-Musayyib narrated to us from Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd from Sabrā ibn Abī Fākih who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: and he mentioned it. I say: This is a good isnād, all its men are trustworthy, and there is some discussion about some of them that does not harm [the authenticity]. Therefore, al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿIrāqī said in "Takhrīj al-Iḥyāʾ" (3/29): "It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī from the ḥadīth of Sabrā ibn Abī Fākih with a ṣaḥīḥ isnād."
