the one before it, and likewise Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī did not notice this in his commentary on this section of "al-Kashf"! (Note): His statement: "towards the man," what I understand from this phrase is that it means his intention and direction, that is, towards goodness and worship (his command to pray), meaning the supererogatory prayer. Al-Haythamī indicated this by including the ḥadīth in "Chapter on Night Prayer," and this was overlooked by some commentators and writers, so it appeared in the margin of "Tārīkh Baghdād": "Thus is the original"! The commentator on "al-Ḥilyah" came close to the truth, saying: "Thus in both originals, and perhaps he means the man's intention." The furthest from the truth was the author of "Mawsūʿat Aṭrāf al-Ḥadīth al-Nabawī," as he printed it in two different places (6/38) as "bukhūr" with a bāʾ then a khāʾ! Attributed to four sources mentioned earlier: al-Bukhārī, al-Ḥilyah, al-Majmaʿ, and al-Khaṭīb, and it is correct in them! So he altered it to "bukhūr," implying that it is correct!! Furthermore, I did not see the ḥadīth in "Mukhtaṣar Zawāʾid al-Bazzār" by the ḥāfiẓ, which was recently printed, nor in the copy I have, to see if he corrected anything regarding his Shaykh al-Haythamī's previous words, so I do not know whether it was something he missed, or if it was omitted by the copyist or the printer.
