that Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq and Zayd ibn Thābit entered the mosque while the imam was bowing, so they bowed, then approached while bowing until they joined the row. I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, and if it were not for the fact that Makḥūl narrated it with ʿanʿanah from Abū Bakr ibn al-Ḥārith, I would have deemed it good, but it is authentic from Zayd ibn Thābit as will be mentioned. from Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf that he saw Zayd ibn Thābit enter the mosque while the imam was bowing, so he walked until he could reach the row while bowing, then he said "Allāhu akbar" and bowed, then moved while bowing until he reached the row. Al-Bayhaqī narrated it (2/90, 3/106) and its chain is authentic. from Zayd ibn Wahb who said: "I went out with ʿAbd Allāh, meaning Ibn Masʿūd, from his house to the mosque. When we were in the middle of the mosque, the imam bowed, so ʿAbd Allāh said 'Allāhu akbar' and bowed, and I bowed with him. Then we walked while bowing until we reached the row when the people raised their heads. When the imam finished the prayer, I stood up thinking that I had not caught it, but ʿAbd Allāh took my hand and made me sit, then said: 'You have caught it.'" It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (1/99/1-2), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Sharḥ al-Maʿānī" (1/231-232), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (3/32/1), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (2/90-91) with an authentic chain.
