whether the addition is Meccan as claimed by al-Ghumārī, or Medinan as indicated by the aforementioned ḥadīths, his statement (p. 12): "These are three ḥadīths that explicitly state that the traveler's prayer is shortened from four rakʿahs, because the meaning of reducing half of the prayer is to drop half of it after completing it was obligatory upon him." I said: This statement does not contradict what I mentioned, nor does it provide evidence to support his deviation! 3 - As for the five explicit ḥadīths, they are actually four because the third and fifth of them are based on al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī in a mursal form, and they are all weak and objectionable. He has misled the readers as much as he wished with his deception, making them believe in the authenticity of some of their isnāds and the explicitness of their texts, while he is not truthful in this. Here is the explanation briefly and in detail: As for the brief explanation: all five ḥadīths are objectionable due to the weakness of their isnāds and their contradiction with the authentic ḥadīths that did not mention the four rakʿahs in ẓuhr, ʿaṣr, and ʿishāʾ, and some of them explicitly state that the prayer was ordained as two rakʿahs, two rakʿahs, and was kept as such during travel and increased in residence. As for the detailed explanation, I say, seeking the help of Allāh: 1 - As for the first ḥadīth: it is mentioned (p. 13) through the route of Abū Bakr ibn ʿAmr ibn Ḥazm from Abū Masʿūd al-Anṣārī who said: "Gabriel came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: Stand and pray, and that was at the declining of the sun, so the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) stood and prayed ẓuhr as four [rakʿahs]..." Then he mentioned the same for the ʿaṣr and ʿishāʾ prayers. And he said: "It was narrated by Isḥāq ibn Rāhwayh in his 'Musnad' according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs."
الزيادة مكية كما يزعم الغماري، أو مدنية كما يدل عليه ما تقدم من الأحاديث، فقوله (ص ١٢): " فهذه ثلاثة أحاديث تصرح بأن صلاة المسافر مقصورة من أربع ركعات، لأن معنى وضع شطر الصلاة حط نصفها بعد أن كان إتمامها واجبا عليه ". قلت: فهذا الكلام لا ينافي ما ذكرته، ولا دليل فيه يؤيد به انحرافه! ٣ - أما الأحاديث الخمسة الصريحة، فهي في الحقيقة أربعة لأن الثالث والخامس منها مدارهما على الحسن البصري مرسلا، وهي كلها ضعيفة منكرة، وقد دلس فيها على القراء ما شاء له التدليس، وأوهمهم صحة بعض أسانيدها وصراحة متونها وهو في ذلك غير صادق، وإليك البيان بإيجاز وتفصيل: أما الإيجاز: فهو أن الأحاديث الخمسة منكرة كلها، لضعف أسانيدها ومخالفتها للأحاديث الصحيحة التي لم تذكر تربيع الركعات في الظهر والعصر والعشاء، وبعضها يصرح أن الصلاة فرضت ركعتين ركعتين، فأقرت في السفر وزيدت في الحضر. وأما التفصيل، فأقول مستعينا بالله ﷿: ١ - أما الحديث الأول: فذكره (ص ١٣) من طريق أبي بكر بن عمرو بن حزم عن أبي مسعود الأنصاري قال: " جاء جبريل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: قم فصل، وذلك لدلوك الشمس حين مالت، فقام رسول الله ﷺ فصلى الظهر أربعا.. ". ثم ذكر مثله في صلاة العصر والعشاء. وقال: " رواه إسحاق بن راهويه في " مسنده " على شرط الشيخين ".
