- "Mūsā was given the tablets, and I was given the oft-repeated [verses]." It was recorded by al-Ismāʿīlī in "Muʿjam Shuyūkhihi" (p. 82/1): Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn ibn Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr - Sajāda - in Baghdad narrated to us: Abū Maʿmar narrated to us, Jareer narrated from al-Aʿmash from Muslim al-Baṭīn from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr from Ibn ʿAbbās from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic; all its narrators are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for this Sajāda, whom al-Khaṭīb mentioned in "al-Tārīkh" (8/4) with the narration of a group of ḥuffāẓ about him and said: "There was no harm in him." And Abū Maʿmar's name is Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm al-Hudhali, and he was corroborated by ʿUthmān ibn Abī Shaybah: Jareer narrated to us with it in more detail. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd from him, and al-Nasāʾī and others from another route from Jareer with it in a summarized form, and it is included in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd" (1312). Some contemporaries who wrote about the virtues of certain sūrahs claimed that this ḥadīth of Abū Dāwūd is mawqūf, which is one of their clear errors. And the one protected is the one whom Allāh protects. (Note): The ḥadīth of the translation I had included in "Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr wa-Ziyādatihi" because I had not yet reviewed its isnād, and therefore I left it blank there. When I reviewed its isnād and its authenticity became clear to me, I hastened to extract it here and decided to transfer it to "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ," and Allāh, the Exalted, is the one who grants success. There is no deity except Him.
