the ḥadīth is one of the clearest evidences of that, and Allāh is the one we ask to preserve our faith and purify our hearts from envy, malice, and arrogance, for He is the best to be asked.

- "There is no servant whom Allāh entrusts with a flock, and he dies on the day he dies while being deceitful to his flock, except that Allāh forbids him from entering Paradise." It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4/387), Muslim (1/88 and 6/8), al-Dārimī (2/324), and Aḥmad (5/25) through various chains from al-Ḥasan who said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Ziyād visited Maʿqil ibn Yasār al-Muzanī during his illness in which he died. Maʿqil said: I will tell you a ḥadīth I heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). If I knew I would live, I would not have told you. I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ... and he mentioned it. In another narration by al-Bukhārī from al-Ḥasan, he said: We came to Maʿqil ibn Yasār to visit him, and ʿUbayd Allāh entered upon us. Maʿqil said to him: ... and he mentioned it similarly. Abū al-Malīḥ corroborated that ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Ziyād entered upon Maʿqil ibn Yasār during his illness, and Maʿqil said to him: ... and he mentioned it similarly, with the wording: "There is no leader who takes charge of the affairs of the Muslims, then does not strive for them and advise them, except that he will not enter Paradise with them." It was narrated by Muslim, and it has been previously mentioned in the narration of Aḥmad and others similarly under number (1754).
