I said: In what al-Dāraquṭnī mentioned, there are errors that become apparent to anyone who examines our previous analysis, and here is a summary of them: First: He mentioned Ibn Lahīʿah along with Mufaḍḍal among those who said: "I have attained the sunnah," whereas he is among those who said: "I have attained" only, as previously noted. Second: He mentioned Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb with ʿAmr and al-Layth, who said: "I have attained," just as Ibn Lahīʿah did. The correct approach is to replace Ibn Lahīʿah, and to mention this replacement here. Third: His statement: "and this is the preserved version." The correct approach is the opposite, as previously verified. Perhaps this third error arose from the first two errors, which themselves arose from his summarization of the differing narrations. It is noticeable that when he placed Ibn Lahīʿah with Mufaḍḍal alone, and placed Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb with ʿAmr and al-Layth, it weakened that side and strengthened this side. Moreover, he forgot to include Ḥaywah with Mufaḍḍal, which further weakened that side, as he also overlooked pairing them with Mūsá ibn ʿAlī. Had he done so, the correct approach would have been clear to him, Allāh willing. In summary: Those who said: "I have attained the sunnah" are four: 1 - Mūsá ibn ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ. 2 - Mufaḍḍal ibn Faḍālah. 3 - Ḥaywah ibn Sharīḥ. 4 - Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb. (All of them are trustworthy narrators of the two Shaykhs except for Mūsá ibn ʿAlī, who is only a narrator for Muslim). And those who said: "I have attained" only are three: 1 - ʿAbd Allāh ibn Lahīʿah. 2 - ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith. 3 - al-Layth ibn Saʿd. (They are narrators of the two Shaykhs except for Ibn Lahīʿah, as previously mentioned)
