Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-ʿAlāʾ ibn Zibriq al-Ḥimṣī: narrated to me by my grandfather Ibrāhīm ibn al-ʿAlāʾ: narrated to me by my uncle al-Ḥārith ibn al-Ḍaḥḥāk: narrated to me by Manṣūr ibn al-Muʿtamir who said: I heard Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir narrating from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father in a raised form in a ḥadīth of his, the beginning of which is: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked: Which part of the night is most attentive? ..." al-Mundhirī said (3/62): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and there is no harm in its narrators, except that Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān did not hear from his father." A similar statement was made by al-Haythamī (4/243): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and Abū Salamah did not hear from his father, and the rest of the men in the chain have a good ḥadīth." And less than that is the statement of the earlier ḥāfiẓ: "And its men are trustworthy"! I said: There is a consideration in this from several aspects: 1- The disconnection that was explicitly mentioned by al-Mundhirī and then al-Haythamī, and it was transmitted by the ḥāfiẓ in "al-Tahdhīb" from a group of earlier imams like Aḥmad and others. 2- al-Ḥārith ibn al-Ḍaḥḥāk is unknown to me, and I did not find anyone who documented him, not even Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq", and he did not mention him, nor did al-Mizzī in the teachers of his nephew Ibrāhīm ibn al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Ḍaḥḥāk. 3- ʿAmr ibn Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-ʿAlāʾ, I also did not find a documentation for him, not even in "al-Tārīkh", he was only mentioned among the narrators from his grandfather Ibrāhīm ibn al-ʿAlāʾ
