- "I have been given al-Kawthar, and it is a river flowing [as such on the surface of the earth] without being dug. Its banks are domes of pearls. I reached out with my hand to its soil, and it was fragrant musk, and its pebbles were pearls." It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/152): ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us, and the addition is his, and (3/247): ʿAffān narrated to us, and the context is his. They said: Ḥammād narrated to us: Thābit informed us from Anas ibn Mālik that he recited this verse: * (Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar) * He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. It was also recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (7/133/6437) through the route of Hudbah ibn Khālid: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, and al-Bazzār (4/179/3488) through the route of Rūḥ: Ḥammād narrated to us. I say: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. Al-Suyūṭī attributed it in "al-Durr al-Manthūr" (6/401) to Ibn al-Mundhir and also Ibn Mardawayh from Anas. Ibn al-Qayyim said in "Ḥādī al-Arwāḥ" (1/286): "Abū Khaythamah said: ʿAffān narrated to us. Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us ...
