- "He would send him on expeditions and give him the banner, and he would not return until Allāh granted him victory, with Gabriel on his right and Michael on his left. This refers to ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu)." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2211), Aḥmad (1/199), al-Bazzār (2574 - al-Kashf), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/131/1), and al-Nasāʾī in "al-Khaṣāʾiṣ" number (25), similar to the verification of al-Balūshī and Ibn ʿAsākir (12/215/1-2) from various chains from Abū Isḥāq from Hubayrah ibn Yarīm who said: I heard al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī stand and address the people, saying: O people! Yesterday, a man departed from you whom the first ones did not surpass, nor will the later ones reach. Indeed, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would send him (the ḥadīth), and he left neither a white nor a yellow [coin] except seven hundred dirhams remaining from his stipend, which he intended to use to buy a servant. I said: And its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for this Hubayrah, about whom there is disagreement, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "There is no harm in him, but he was criticized for Shīʿism." I said: And Abū Isḥāq - who is al-Sabīʿī - was a mudallis and had become confused, and there is disagreement about his isnād. A group narrated from him in this manner. His grandson Isrāʾīl contradicted them, saying: from Abū Isḥāq from ʿAmr ibn Ḥubaysh who said: al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī addressed us... the ḥadīth. It was recorded by Aḥmad and Ibn ʿAsākir. I said: And perhaps this discrepancy is from al-Sabīʿī himself due to his confusion, but he was followed up.
