I said: And this Ismāʿīl is weak, as mentioned in "Taqrīb." But Abū Ḥamzah followed him in reporting from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr with it. Al-Bayhaqī recorded it through the route of al-Ḥākim with his chain from Muḥammad ibn Mūsá ibn Ḥātim, who narrated to us from ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Shaqīq, who narrated to us from Abū Ḥamzah. I said: And Abū Ḥamzah—he is Muḥammad ibn Maymūn al-Sukkarī—is trustworthy, from the men of the two Shaykhs, as well as those above him, except that Muḥammad ibn Mūsá ibn Ḥātim is criticized. Al-Qāsim al-Siyārī said: "I am free from his responsibility." And Ibn Abī Saʿd said: "If Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Ḥāfiẓ had a bad opinion of him." Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ also followed him in reporting from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr with it. Al-Būṣīrī mentioned it without attributing it to a source, and I think he means what Aḥmad recorded (1/190) from Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ, who narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr from ʿAmr ibn Ḥurayth who said: "I arrived in Medina and divided with my brother, and Saʿīd ibn Zayd said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: 'There is no blessing in the price of land or a house that is not placed in land or a house.'" I said: So you see that Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ made it from the ḥadīth of Saʿīd ibn Zayd, not from the ḥadīth of Saʿīd ibn Ḥurayth. And perhaps that is due to his poor memory, which is the reason for his weakness. And it has been narrated through another route from ʿAmr ibn Ḥurayth as a marfūʿ ḥadīth, but its isnād is weak. Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (2/324): "I asked my father about a ḥadīth narrated by ʿUqbah ibn Khālid from al-Ṣabāḥ ibn Yaḥyá from Khālid ibn Abī Umayyah from ʿAmr ibn Ḥurayth: (he mentioned it), my father said: They narrate it from ʿAmr ibn Ḥurayth from his brother Saʿīd ibn Ḥurayth."
