to it in "al-Kabīr" by al-ʿAskarī, al-Ḥilyah, and al-Bayhaqī in the Sunan, thus missing al-Tirmidhī, Aḥmad, and al-Ḥarbī! I did not see it in the index of "al-Ḥilyah" by al-Ghumārī, and Allāh knows best.

- "If you say to the people 'Be silent' while they are speaking, you have nullified [the reward] for yourself." It was narrated by Imām Aḥmad (2/318): ʿAbd al-Razzāq ibn Hammām narrated to us, Maʿmar narrated to us from Hammām from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... I said: He mentioned many ḥadīths, this being one of them. And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. They both included it in their Ṣaḥīḥ collections from the route of Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib from Abū Hurayrah as marfūʿ with the wording: "If you say to your companion 'Be silent' on Friday while the imām is delivering the khuṭbah, you have engaged in idle talk." Likewise, Muslim and others narrated it through other routes from Abū Hurayrah as I clarified in "Irwāʾ al-Ghalīl" (no. 612). It appears that this is another ḥadīth narrated by Hammām - who is Ibn Munabbih, the brother of Wahb - from Abū Hurayrah, different from the one narrated by Saʿīd and those we referred to from Abū Hurayrah. And Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth is among those missed by al-Suyūṭī in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr," so take it as a precious benefit that you may not find elsewhere. And Allāh is the grantor of success. (nullified) meaning you have engaged in idle talk and what is not appropriate in speech, as al-Rāghib al-Aṣbahānī said in "al-Mufradāt":
