there was gourd. He said: I saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) liked the gourd. Anas said: I have continued to like the gourd since I saw the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) liked it." It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/208, 210-211, 232, 252, 270, 289) and Ibn Saʿd (1/391) through various chains from him. This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. His statement: (al-ihālah): it is anything from oils that is used as a condiment, and it is said otherwise. And (al-sanikhah): it is the one with a changed smell.

"He used to ride the donkey, mend the sandal, and patch the shirt, and he would say: Whoever turns away from my sunnah is not from me." It was narrated by Abū al-Shaykh (p. 128) and al-Sahmī in "Tārīkh Jurjān" (315) through the chain of Abū Yaʿlá, narrated to us by Isḥāq ibn Abī Isrāʾīl, narrated to us by Yaḥyá ibn Yaʿlá from Mukhtār al-Taymī from Karz ibn Wabarah al-Ḥārithī from Abū Ayyūb in a marfūʿ manner. I say: This isnād is weak. Mukhtār - who is Ibn Nāfiʿ al-Taymī - is weak, and similarly is Yaḥyá ibn Yaʿlá, who is al-Aslamī al-Kūfī. However, it has a strong mursal support. Ibn Saʿd (1/372) said: Muḥammad ibn Muqātil al-Khurāsānī informed us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak informed us, saying: Sufyān informed us that al-Ḥasan said: "When Allāh sent Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), He said: This is My Prophet, this is My chosen one, emulate him, and follow his sunnah and path. Doors were not closed before him, guards did not stand before him, he was not served with large trays in the morning or evening, he would sit on the ground, eat his food on the ground, wear coarse clothing, ride the donkey, and have someone ride behind him, and he would lick his fingers. He used to say: Whoever turns away from my sunnah is not from me." I say: This isnād is a sound mursal, all its narrators are trustworthy, the men of al-Bukhārī.
